Former Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze has secured a new coaching role in Tanzania. Kaze has been appointed head coach of Tanzanian outfit Kagera Sugar FC, marking his return to the dugout after leaving Sekhukhune.
The Burundian tactician has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028. Kaze previously worked as an assistant and later co-coach at Kaizer Chiefs before joining Sekhukhune. He parted ways with Babina Noko just seven days into the new season.
His appointment at Kagera Sugar brings him back to a league he knows well, having previously coached Young Africans. During his two stints with the reigning Tanzanian champions, he served as head coach before assisting Nasreddine Nabi.
At Kagera, he replaces Juma Kaseja, who has overseen their difficult start to the season. Kaseja dissolved their entire technical bench following a winless start to the 2026/26 NBC Premier League season.
WHO ARE KAGERA SUGAR?
Kagera Sugar are a professional football club based in Bukoba, Tanzania, and play their home matches at Kaitaba Stadium. Bukoba is 1439km from Dar es Salaam.
The club recently returned to the Tanzanian Premier League after an impressive promotion campaign in the second tier. They finished second with 72 points, having recorded 22 wins, six draws and only two defeats in 30 league matches.
However, Kagera Sugar have endured a difficult start to life back in the top flight and remain without a victory this season, registering two draws and four defeats.
Kaze will now be tasked with turning around their fortunes and establishing the newly promoted side in Tanzania’s top division.
