The presence of Magesi FC’s director of football Morgan Mammila on the bench during a SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League match over the weekend left fans speculating about his future.

‎Mammila was on the bench for Mighty FC when they lost 3-0 to Mohlabile United FC during an official league match at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday.

The former Chippa United coach assumed the director of football role at Magesi FC ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

He has previously indicated that he was done with coaching and is now solely focused on his new role at the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup champions, Magesi.

“It’s a closed chapter. I think I have done my part in coaching, and I will never coach again,” Mammilla told journalists in Polokwane in July 2026. I am happy because I left a record at a club I was coaching. People are still struggling after I left. So, I am not going to coach anymore.”

‎WHY MORGAN MAMMILA WAS ON THE BENCH FOR ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE CLUB MIGHTY FC

‎However, Mammila was seen sitting on the bench for the duration of the match between Mighty FC and Mohlabile United FC, issuing instructions to the players.

‎It quickly raised questions about whether he had jumped ship and left Motsepe Foundation Championship club Magesi to return to the dugout.

Speaking to FARPost, a Magesi FC official clarified that Mammila remains in his position as director of football, explaining that his presence on the Mighty FC bench forms part of a technical support initiative for local Limpopo clubs.

The Magesi official added that Mighty FC are not the sole outfit benefiting from the initiative, with Mammila set to monitor several regional clubs to facilitate player recruitment and strategic partnerships.

Meanwhile, Magesi FC return to league action in the second-tier league on Friday, 9 October, when they host North West University at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
