Sekhukhune United have bolstered their defensive options for the 2026/27 PSL campaign with the signing of promising defender Siphesihle Nkosi from ABC Motsepe League side Via Sports, a club owned by former Orlando Pirates star Mpho Makola.
The Betway Premiership side acquired Nkosi on a free transfer from Via Sports, which competes in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.
Nkosi caught the eyes of Sekhukhune scouts after his consistent performances in the third division. Last season, the utility player, who can play as centre-back and central midfielder, helped Mpho Makola’s charges win the title in the SAFA Hollywoodbets Regional League – the fourth tier.
After falling short in their promotion chase through the playoffs, Via Sports purchased the ABC Motsepe League status of JMB FC.
In recent years, the club has gained popularity in Gauteng’s amateur ranks, playing enterprising, possession-based football under the guidance of the former Pirates star, Makola.
In the previous transfer window, Via Sports lost talented playmaker Siphesihle ‘Messi’ Mazibuko to Gomora United in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Nkosi has now followed Mazibuko in signing a professional contract after making a big move to Babina Noko.
Via Sports announced Nkosi’s move on their social media platforms on Thursday night, acknowledging the impact he had during his stay with the club.
VIA SPORTS CONFIRM MOVE FOR SIPHESIHLE NKOSI

“We are delighted to announce the departure of Siphesihle ‘Nkuzi’ Nkosi, who is joining Sekhukhune United from Via Sport JBM,” the club said on their social media pages.
“Nkuzi is a founding member of our club, and his journey with us is one we will always be proud of. From the earliest days of building Via Sports JBM, he has been part of our story, our growth and our identity. He spent three seasons with us, giving his all on and off the field, and his commitment, professionalism and character have left a lasting mark on the club.
“His hard work and development were rewarded with selection to the National Under-23 preliminary squad — a recognition that speaks to his talent, dedication and the standards he set for himself. It has been a privilege to witness his growth, and we have no doubt that he will continue to rise.
“As he takes on this next challenge with Sekhukhune United, we wish him nothing but the best. We know he will make us proud, and he will always be welcome back at Via Sport JBM.”
