AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has set ambitious targets for his side following a brilliant start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
Usuthu have enjoyed a flying start to the season, quickly establishing themselves as early contenders capable of pushing heavyweights Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in the league title race.
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit currently occupies third place on the table, breathing down the necks of log leaders Sundowns and second-placed Pirates. So far, Usuthu have registered six wins, one draw, and just a single defeat in their opening eight league matches, collecting 19 points, just behind Pirates (22 points) and Sundowns (23 points).
In addition to their strong points tally, AmaZulu have proven to be one of the most lethal attacking sides in the top flight this season, netting 12 goals thus far.
ARTHUR ZWANE AIMING FOR TOP THREE FINISH
With AmaZulu playing an entertaining, high-tempo brand of football while consistently grinding out results, Zwane has revealed that the primary objective is to secure qualification for CAF interclub competitions next season.

“We have goals like any other team, but the league is a marathon, and you never know what’s going to happen as the season progresses,” Zwane said.
“But we fancy our chances; we really want to go and compete in Africa next season because we are growing as a group.
“So that will be a very good experience for this group of players. If you remember my first season at AmaZulu with coach Kanu [Vusumuzi Vilakazi], we finished in sixth position.
“The following season, which was last season, we finished fourth, so we are always aiming high and improving from last season.”
The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor took sole charge of AmaZulu in February 2025, having initially arrived at the Durban-based outfit in October 2024 as co-coach alongside Vilakazi.
