Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has trimmed his provisional squad down to the final list of players set to battle Kenya in back-to-back 2027 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers this month.
The announcement at the SABC studios in Auckland Park comes on the back of the initial 38-man preliminary list released on October 23, as South Africa gear up for a titanic battle against Kenya, led by legendary former Bafana striker Benni McCarthy.
South Africa will host Kenya at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto on Friday, 13 November 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 CAT.
After the home encounter, Mosimane’s charges will jet off to Nairobi for the return fixture on Tuesday, 17 November 2026, which will also kick off at 18:00.
MBEKEZELI MBOKAZI AND THALANTE MBATHA RETURN TO THE NATIONAL TEAM SET-UP
The squad selection welcomes back Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Thalante Mbatha. Both players, who featured for South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, missed the previous international camp through injury but have now worked their way back into the senior team fold.
Bafana currently sit at the top of Group D with six points after securing victories in their opening two AFCON qualifying matches in September 2026.
They kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 win over Guinea in Soweto before delivering a commanding 5-0 display against Eritrea in Egypt. During the same FIFA international break window, South Africa also recorded a 1-0 win over Egypt in an international friendly in Cairo.
