Gavin Hunt makes big Parker admission

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has made a big admission about Bernard Parker, who is being assessed by the club.

The veteran attacker has been training with Matsatsantsa with the hope of earning himself a contract.

The former Chippa United mentor who worked with Bernard Parker at Kaizer Chiefs is a big admirer of the player and suggests the former Bafana Bafana international would have made an impact in their 1-1 draw against Chippa United on Sunday afternoon.

“A game like tonight, Bernard Parker would have been perfect because he’s got the guile. When you play games like this, you need guile. If you haven’t got guile, you need that final touch, but anyway, he’s not here with us,” Hunt told the media.

The 36-year-old forward was amongst players who were let go by Amakhosi in the off-season after the club opted against extending his contract.

Other players who were released are Leonardo Castro, Samir Nurkovic, Daniel Akpeyi, Lazarus Kambole, Dumisani Zuma, Kearyn Baccus, Lebogang Manyama, Daniel Cardoso and Siphokashe Ntiya-Ntiya, who has since joined Sekhukhune United.

The Boksburg-born star made 363 appearances for The Glamour Boys, scoring 60 goals and contributing 40 assists in all competitions.
Meanwhile, the 58-year-old tactician believes his charges should have won their opening encounter of the season comfortably against the Chilli Boys coached by Daine Klate, who sat on the bench as a senior coach for the first time on Sunday.

“It’s disappointing because we should have won the game comfortably. It’s the final touch or pass, but it will come. I was pleased with the effort and desire. Sometimes in football, you can’t control when you should be scoring. I mean, they never had a shot on target. They got a point they’ll be the happier of the two,” added the former Bidvest Wits coach.
The Tshwane-based side’s next task in the DStv Premiership is against AmaZulu FC at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday. Kick off is at 17:00.
