Ex-Pirates, Downs star appears in court

A former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns winger is in court for malicious damage to property.

Troubled Kudakwashe Mahachi, who turned out for SuperSport United last season, has stayed away from the eye of the media following allegations surrounding the scalding of his four-year-old son.

But on Tuesday, he had no choice as he was due to appear at Bulawayo’s Tredgold Magistrates courts for malicious damage to property.

Mahachi is accused of snatching and damaging his sister’s iPhone XR last week as part of concerted efforts to destroy evidence nailing him for purportedly scalding his four-year-old son with boiling water.
The ex-Golden Arrows winger’s sister, Meline Mahachi, is a key witness in the ongoing police investigations.
In a twist to the saga, Mahachi is also accusing Meline’s husband, Paul Sixpence, of assaulting him on the day he allegedly smashed his sister’s US$400 phone.

The prosecutor requested for postponement till July 5, saying the state had not yet recorded witness statements.
