Agent confirms Sundowns star’s loan deal
Fresh from helping Swallows FC retain their DStv Premiership status through the promotion/relegation playoffs, it has been confirmed that a midfielder who was influential for The Birds will not be staying with the club.
FARPost has been reliably informed that the Grant Magerman will join SuperSport United as the club begins life without Sipho Mbule, who recently joined Sundowns.
“Grant [Margeman] will not be staying with Swallows, he’s a player with ambitions, and he wants to play for a team that participates in all competitions to increase his chances of possibly playing for Bafana Bafana in future,” Ntobatsi Masegela of Footballerz Sports Marketing told FARPost.
The 24-year-old Cape Town-born midfielder made 23 appearances for the Dube Birds in the just-ended DStv Premiership season and played in all four playoff fixtures, scoring a stunning goal against the GladAfrica Championship side Cape Town All-Stars. However, the goal was not enough to seal a victory as the Dobsonville-based side suffered a dramatic 2-1 loss to All-Stars.
The former Ajax Cape Town midfielder will spend a season-long loan with Matsatsantsa.
“The deal is a loan move until the end of 2022/23 season. If you remember when Grant joined Sundowns, he was on top form with Ajax Cape Town and finding it tough to acclimatise and play regularly affected his confidence,” Masegela added.
“You can see his stay at Swallows has reminded everyone of the Grant we saw at Ajax and he wants to build on that hence we found a move for him where he is going to challenge himself more so that he can grow as a player.”
