Botswana’s Zebras, Eswatini clash in South Africa

Botswana Zebras arrived in South Africa on Thursday and are scheduled to play Eswatini in an international friendly as they prepare for their opening Africa Cup of Nations qualifier tie against Libya.

The Zebras clash with Libya in Benghazi on Wednesday next week and caretaker coach Teenage Mpote will get a chance to gauge the readiness of his charges ahead of the tie.

“The Zebras will pit stop in South Africa for a practice match against 2023 Chan Qualifier opponents Eswatini. The practice match which caretaker coach Mogomotsi Mpote has marked as important to get the team shape and bond sorted ahead of the much anticipated Group J opener will take place in Tshwane the capital of South Africa on the 27th May 2022 before the Zebras fly off to Libya on the 29th May,” the Botswana FA said.

Mpote has SuperSport United defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe as his captain. The man nicknamed ‘TT’ had another fine season, picking up three man of the match accolades.
The Morocco-based trio of Mothusi Cooper, Kabelo Seakanyeng and Orebonye will join the team in Egypt as the connect to head to Libya.

Meanwhile, Mpote has added goalkeeper Ryan Brown to the squad after the withdrawal of midfielder Gape Mohutsiwa due to a family bereavement.
