REPORT: Ronaldo asks to be released from his contract

Portuguese frontman Cristiano Ronaldo has requested Manchester United to release him from his contract, that’s according to The Daily Mail.

The report reveals that talks between the two parties this week have failed to change the 37-year-old’s mind about his future at Old Trafford.

The former Juventus and Real Madrid star was back at United’s training ground a day after he and agent Jorge Mendes met with Erik ten Hag to discuss the forward’s future at the club as per the report.

Ronaldo was in attendance for United in a behind-closed-doors friendly match against Wrexham on Wednesday. The Red Devils won the encounter with a 4-1 scoreline.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner wants to leave before the transfer window period, but United remains adamant that their star striker is not for sale as he enters the final year of his contract.

Meanwhile, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “No change here. Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave, but United insist he is not for sale and still has a role to play.”
