Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has showered veteran defender Mark Van Heerden with praise after the 34-year-old was snapped up on a free transfer.
The former Orlando Pirates left-back joins the Citizens after parting company with Stellenbosch FC as Steve Barker’s side embarked on a new journey of bringing a youthful squad to the team.
“The difficulty we face this season both on the continent and on the home front, we need a little more depth and experience in our squad from the first game in August,” said Tinker on the club’s official site
“He’ll be extremely fundamental during that period with the wealth of experience he has, the type of discipline he has, wanting to achieve more, that leadership quality, his work ethic, and I think he’s a fantastic addition to the squad.
With Cape Town City campaigning in the CAF Championships League and three local competitions, DStv Premiership, MTN8 and Nedbank Cup, Eric Tinker will be looking to form a formidable side to aim for all the silverware on offer in the 2022/23 season.
