Another golden opportunity for Morena Ramoreboli in Botswana

SA coach Morena Ramoreboli has another golden opportunity to make more history with Jwaneng Galaxy, as they dominate the Botswana League.

While coach Morena Ramoreboli is cruising nicely in the Botswana Premier League, he is one step away from reaching another milestone, in the Orange FA Cup.

The Botswana giants, Jwaneng Galaxy look poised to defend their Premier League title. They are fixated at the summit of the log table with 59 points after 23 games.

They won 19 matches and drew on two occassions. Only two defeats have been their blemish. Moreso, they have a healthy goal difference of 28.

Their closest rivals, Township Rollers FC are ten points behind, with 49 points on their tally after playing 23 matches.

And as they cruise nicely in the league competition, it is no longer hard to imagine them completing a double this season. Galaxy has never won the Orange FA Cup final which has been a automatic ticket to the CAF Confederations Cup.

In 2023, Gaborone United won the title after beating Orapa United 1-0 in the finals. Gaborone United are the record winners of this tournament after winning the title on nine occassions since it’s inception.

On Sunday, Ramoreboli and his men stormed into the semi-finals of a tournament that started with 48 teams. They beat giants, Gaborone United on penalties in a match that had ended 1-1 in normal time.

SuperSport United target Daniel Msendami scored Galaxy’s goal while Molaodi Tlhalefang scored for Gaborone United. Deservedly, the Zimbabwean star, Msendami walked away with the Man of the Match award.

Meanwhile Tafic FC and Orapa United will face-off in the other Orange FA Cup semi-final match. The semi-final dates and venues are yet to be revealed but Ramoreboli and his men are fancying their chances at reaching the final.
