Sekhukhune United’s Lesotho hotshot Teboho Letsema set for switch

Just two months after joining Sekhukhune United, exciting Lesotho national team winger Teboho Letsema looks set to make a switch.

Letsema joined Sekhukhune from Linare FC in January after impressing the club during a friendly match against Likuena in December.

The 21-year-old, who made his international debut for Lesotho in September 2023, penned a long-term deal with the DStv Premiership club, and indications are that they see a future with him.

He became their second January signing after securing the services of Namibian striker Edmar Ronaldo Kamatuka.

However, Babina Noko have been unable to create space for him to be registered. The club was hoping Ivory Coast AFCON-winning goalkeeper Ali Badra Sangare would get his permanent residence to create room for a foreigner. The process has taken longer than expected, leaving them unable to accommodate the former Linare FC winger.

Besides Sangare, Sekhukhune are also home to Zambian midfielder Larry Bwalya, Nigerian Chibuke Ohizu Congolese Tresor Tshibwabwa and Michael Sarpong, a Ghanaian striker.

The club has reached an agreement with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Orbit College FC for a loan deal until the end of the season.

Letsema now looks set to play his football in the second tier while he waits for his new club to register him next season.

Orbit, newcomers in the second tier, are in the running for the championship and promotion to the DStv Premiership.

After their goalless draw against Maritzburg United, they slipped to third place. They are two points adrift of log leaders Magesi, who have collected 39 points with nine games to go.

Adding the nippy winger will give them a bit of edge upfront as they look to finish the season on a high.
All things being equal, Letsema should officially start his South Africa career after the March international break.

After completing the move to Sekhukhune, Letsema expressed his excitement, revealing his ambition to secure a move overseas eventually.

“I am going to work so hard to make sure the big teams recognise me,” Letsema said. “My dream is to play overseas, and I won’t rest until my football career leads me there.”
