Davids makes a special plea concerning Premiership relegation matches

Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids has made a special plea regarding the remaining DStv Premiership relegation matches.

The Team of Choice are now bottom of the log following Saturday’s results. They lost 1-0 at Sekhukhune United, while Marumo Gallants managed a 1-1 draw at Kaizer Chiefs. Both teams are on 24 points, but Gallants have a superior goal difference.

It was their 13th defeat, the highest number of losses so far this season. Davids has now suggested that relegation battle matches should be televised as many things happen without the public eye.

He was specifically reacting to the match against Sekhukhune United, where they finished with 10-man after Bradley Cross was given a red card.

Maritzburg also felt hard done by a goal they believe was scored from an offside position by Sibusiso Vilakazi.

SPECIAL PLEA FOR THE DSTV PREMIERSHIP RELEGATION MATCHES

“I plead that matches like these are televised, especially in the relegation fight,” he told journalists.

“A lot of things are happening here, and we have to have a clear eye on these types of games.

“That is the first step to keep an eye on all these relegation fight games, and the next point is we need order in the league,” he said.

“Besides that, we will be back, we will fight back, and we will be pushing in our next game. We will fight against all odds against external factors, and we will push our heads up and fight.”

FADLU DAVIDS CONFIDENT MARITZBURG UNITED WILL SURVIVE

Davids remains confident they will survive the chop regardless of their current situation.

“No, we will survive. We will survive, we will fight, we will be back against all odds, we will fight.”

Maritzburg’s last five matches will be against Richards Bay, Swallows, Marumo Gallants, Stellenbosch and Mamelodi Sundowns.
