SAFA will soon find out if their bid to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup has succeeded or not.
This is after FIFA on Thursday officially revealed the bidding process for the most comprehensive bidding process in the history of the competition.
SAFA president Danny Jordaan has made his intentions clear that they want to be the first CAF member to host the Women’s World on African soil.
The Women’s World Cup was founded 32 years ago.
Europe, Asia and the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football have posted the competition three times each.
Oceania will be hosts for the first time this year, while Africa and South America are yet to be afforded an opportunity.

SAFA have also received backing from the South African government. They are expected to meet the new Sports Minister, Zizi Kodwa on the bid.

On the Decision-making process
The FIFA Council is set to select up to three bids. The FIFA Congress then votes to appoint the hosts through an open vote.
Bid Evaluation Task Force
FIFA will also establish a Bid Evaluation Task Force to evaluate all the bids. It will be approved by the FIFA Council following confirmation of the bidding member associations.
Integrity measures
Each bidder will also be required to appoint a Bid Compliance and Ethics Officer to monitor their compliance with the bidding process
Key dates to note for the 2027 Women’s World Cup bid
21 April 2023 is the deadline to submit their expressions of interest to host the World Cup. The appointment of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup hosts will be announced on 17 May 2024 by the FIFA Congress.
SAFA will have competition from a joint bid by Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands as well as Brazil.
The United States, Mexico, Italy, Chile and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden [joint bid] have reportedly also shown interest.
