SAFA president makes bold Banyana World Cup prediction
SAFA president Danny Jordaan has made a bold Banyana Banyana prediction ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
On Wednesday, 3 May, Banyana’s long-term sponsor, SASOL, launched a campaign that aims to rally support for Banyana’s World Cup campaign.
The launch was hosted in Johannesburg and was attended by Desiree Ellis and her troops. Also in attendance were SASOL executives and SAFA’s NEC members.
The World Cup kicks off on 20 July in Australia and New Zealand. Jordaan has tipped Banyana as a nation that could surprise many nations in the World Cup.
The African champions are in group G, alongside Argentina, Italy, and Sweden. They are the lowest-ranked team in their group.
Furthermore, Jordaan also expressed appreciation to SASOL for the support they keep extending to Banyana.
JORDAAN ON BEING THE BANYANA’S POSSIBLE SURPRISE PACKAGE
“We’re excited about this initiative by our valued sponsors, Sasol, which takes the campaign to football fans, especially Banyana Banyana fans,” said the SAFA President.
The nation’s support will buoy Banyana Banyana as they embark on their FIFA Women’s World Cup journey.
“They are our beacon of hope, the Pride of the Nation, and we are confident they will surprise many countries in this upcoming World Cup,” concluded Jordaan.
The last time Banyana were at the World Cup was in 2019. They did not have a good run as they lost all their games in their group.
However, this time around, they will look to rewrite history and improve their World Cup run.
The organizers have asked South Africans to rally behind Banyana with a slogan that reads,, “South Africa, your support is our energy.”
