Swallows FC avoid FIFA transfer ban

DStv Premiership outfit Swallows FC has become the latest club to avoid the transfer ban imposed by the world football governing board FIFA.

Swallows were banned back in September 2022 after the club failed to pay former Serbian players the duo of Obren Cuckovic and Vladimir Mandic, who were in the club’s books in the 2014/15 season.

According to the ruling, Swallows were to be banned for three transfer windows. The Soweto side and the players’ representative had agreed on a settlement. However, Swallows failed to honour the agreement.

Swallows tried to appeal the decision in the past few months to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland. However, they were unsuccessful.

The club released a statement on Friday sharing the good news and the new development.

WHY LIFTING THE TRANSFER BAN BENEFITS SWALLOWS FC

With the ban lifted, this will help Dube Birds to bolster their squad and add balance. They are now able to buy and register new players in the January transfer window, which loses in the next coming days.

Swallows are struggling to grind results this season in the DStv Premiership. The poor form led to the sacking of Dylan Kerr, who was replaced by Ernst Middendorp.

They find themselves in the relegation zone, 15th on the log table, two points above bottom-placed Marumo Gallants. In 17 matches, they have accumulated 17 points after registering four victories, five draws and suffered eight defeats.
