Update on the Marumo Gallants duo hostage saga
There has been an update on the Marumo Gallants duo held hostage by a Libyan hotel owner who is owed money by the Limpopo club.
Thursday marks 16 days since team officials Rufus Matsena and Amos Dina Dhlomo were held as collateral in Benghazi.
As it stands, Marumo owner Abram Sello has not paid what he owes to Dr Elzargha as per their agreement. This means the pair will again remain in the foreign country almost three weeks after their CAF Confederation Cup match against Al Akhdar.
Gallants have raised the issue of fluctuation of prices from the regular amount they had anticipated to pay. This is despite agreeing to pay R670 000 for all costs incurred during the trip.
NO MONEY, NO DEAL
But Dr Elzargha also maintains he will not let go of the pair until all his money is paid in full.
General Manager for Football Business at SAFA, Mzwandile Maforvane, has since confirmed to FARPost that a meeting with all stakeholders has been scheduled for Thursday. This includes the club, Dr Elzargha, SAFA and the Department of International Relations and Corporation.
SAFA ISSUE UPDATE ON MARUMO GALLANTS DUO HOSTAGE
“We only have one intention, and that is for those people in Benghazi to be allowed to come back to their families. That is the initial position,” he told FARPost.
“Whatever he comes up with, he comes with his version of the story. We will come up with our own version then we will be able to find a solution. The intention is to find a solution.”
Meanwhile, the club has been drawn against Pyramids FC of Egypt in the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup. CAF conducted the draw on Wednesday evening.
