JDR Stars boss raises concerns over reported CT City signing

JDR Stars owner and coach Nditsheni Nemasisi says it would be disappointing if one of his key players, Sibusiso Ziba, signed a contract with Cape Town City FC without his knowledge.

Ziba has reportedly agreed on a four-year deal with the Citizens as of next season.

The talented, versatile player has been with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, JDR Stars, since 2021. While the club is busy fighting for promotion to the DStv Premiership, Ziba will reportedly be playing for a different team in SA’s elite league next season.

“The current rumours, I take it as that. It’s just rumours for me,” Nemasisi told FARPost

HAS JDR STARS PLAYER SIBUSISO ZIBA SIGNED FOR CAPE TOWN CITY FC?

“It’s highly possible that people have signed behind my back; this is football. But for those that I know are official, I have not engaged with any team.

JDR boss Nditsheni Nemasisi says it would be disappointing if indeed one of his key players Sibusiso Ziba has signed a contract with Cape Town City.

“We are choosing to focus on the league [promotion]. Whether the players have signed or not, if they are still professional on the field of play, we will use them, then at the end of the season, they can go wherever they signed, we will replace them,” he said.

NDITSHENI NEMASISI EXPLAINS WHY HE WOULD FEEL BETRAYED IF HIS PLAYER SIGNED WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE

“The same Ziba that they are saying has signed with Cape Town City; it will be a betrayal of a high note. But if he has done that we will accept and move on as a football team.

“I think Cape Town City should have contacted us or the player himself should have made it a point that we are involved in his move. But if he chooses not to, it’s also fine because it’s his prerogative to choose his career path,” added a disappointed Nemasisi.

“But looking at where we come from with him, he was at an ABC Motsepe League team where he was a striker, but we played him as a centre-back. He is playing in the midfield now as well. So we have done a lot of development in his career but we accept and move on.”
