Cristiano Ronaldo gets £186m offer to join new club
Former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is already getting offers following his exit from the English club.
Ronaldo parted ways with Manchester United last week after his explosive tell-all interview with Piers Morgan.
In the interview, Ronaldo accused the owners of the club – the Glazers – of neglecting the once Mighty club. He also said he had lost his respect for the club’s manager Erik ten Hag.
AL NASSR COURTING CRISTIANO RONALDO
Just days after the interview, the club issued a statement saying they had mutually agreed with the star player to terminate his contract.
The development means going into the FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo’s agent had to be hard at work trying to get him a new deal.
According to CBS, the Portuguese forward has received a tempting offer from a Saudi Arabia club.
Al Nassr have reportedly made an offer of £186m to the Portugal captain, who is currently a free agent.
Reports suggest that the club wants the 37-year-old on a three-year deal. During his controversial interview, Ronaldo claimed that there was an offer from a Saudi Arabia side during the off-season.
The former Real Madrid star says he rejected the offer, which was in the region of £305m.
HE’S A ROLE MODEL
Interestingly, Saudi Arabi’s sports minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal recently said they were eager to lure Ronaldo to the domestic league.
“Who wouldn’t want him to play in their league?” Prince Abdulaziz told Sky News. “He’s a role model to a lot of young players – him and [Lionel] Messi.”
However, it may be difficult to convince him to move to the Middle East nation as he harbours ambitions of playing in the UEFA Champions League.
He will feel he still has what it takes to play in the biggest club competition in the world after guiding Portugal to a win in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup campaign. He scored his country’s first goal as they beat Ghana on Thursday.
The goal ensured he became the only player to score in five successive FIFA World Cups.
