Seema gives verdict on ex-Chiefs man Keletso Sifama’s debut

Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema has given his verdict on ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keletso Sifama.

Sifama made his Sekhukhune debut in their 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch FC in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday.

The match took place at New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. It was a battle of two in-form teams who came into this clash holding unbeaten records.

Sekhukhune are now unbeaten in nine games in the DStv Premiership, whereas Stellenbosch are on fire as they’re unbeaten in 22 matches across all competitions. Sifama joined Babina Noko on a free transfer in September 2023 after cutting ties with Amakhosi.

The 21-year-old has been playing for Babina Noko’s reserve side in the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] to get some game time. He was on target when they beat Themba Badela’s Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 scoreline over the weekend.

Sifama, who previously had loan stints with Maritzburg United, Pretoria Callies and Casric Stars, was introduced in the 76th minute for in-form Sekhukhune United captain Linda Mntambo.

LEHLOHONOLO SEEMA’S VERDICT ON KELETSO SIFAMA

Seema was impressed by Sifama’s confidence and noted that this is not something surprising for them as he has been doing well at training.

“Well, he has been with our DDC team and he has been doing very well. He even scored last week,” Seema told journalists.

“He is one of the guys we have promoted and he is not new in the Premier League. So, he has tasted it before and you can see by his confidence.

“Once he gets to understand the relationships and once he starts to understand we will get there, and it’s nothing different or surprising for us because he has been training with us and we see him.”

As things stand, Sekhukhune are placed fourth in the DStv Premiership log standings with 36 points from 23 outings.

Sekhukhune’s next assignment will be against relegation-threatened side Cape Town Spurs on Saturday, 20 April 2024. The game will start at 17:00 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
