Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s contract details at Chippa United revealed

Details of Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s contract with Chippa United have emerged following his recent transfer to the club.

Mahlatsi joined Chippa on a free transfer after being unattached for over six months since parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs in September 2023.

The skillful midfielder spent one season at Amakhosi after being signed from Moroka Swallows during the 2022/23 PSL campaign.

He struggled for game-time with the Naturena-based side after playing only seven matches across all competitions.

In his club search after leaving Chiefs, Mahlatsi tried his luck at Swallows a few months ago, but the deal couldn’t materialise as the club remains financially unstable.

Mahlatsi arrived at Chippa in January for an assessment, and he did enough to impress the technical team led by Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September.

Nyaope, as he’s affectionately known, was unveiled last Friday ahead of the Chilli Boys’ DStv Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC.

The 25-year-old winger walked straight into starting lineup as Chippa settled for a 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch at Danie Craven Stadium the same day.

With Mahlatsi returning to competitive football, his agent Mike Makaab has disclosed the contract length for his client.

“Kamohelo Mahlatsi has signed with Chippa United until the end of the season. The team also has an option to extend for a further year,” Makaab told FARPost.

Meanwhile, The Port Elizabeth-based is sitting 12th on the league table after collecting 20 points in 18 games. They won four games, drew eight, and lost six times.

Chippa will face Richards Bay FC in their next league match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday, 05 March. Kickoff is at 19:30
