In a move that expands his coaching experience beyond the PSL, a former Polokwane City coach has secured a new coaching position in Ghana.
Willy Moloto was officially unveiled as head coach of a Ghanaian side at the weekend. As FARPost reported last month, Moloto was approached by Real Academicals to take over the role.
Moloto departed for the West African country on Friday and was officially unveiled on Saturday as Real Academicals head coach.
Academicals are competing in the second division in Ghana. The ambitious side has tasked the South African mentor to help them gain promotion to the Ghanaian Premier League.

“First of all, it’s a privilege to be chosen to be given the opportunity to work at the Real Academicals,” he told FARPost.
“Real Academicals is a well-run team in Ghana, and I am also thankful to the chairman and the board of directors for having faith in me. It’s not easy to hire someone from another country.
“But I must also give thanks to the chairman of Polokwane City, Mr [Johnny] Mogaladi, and the chairman of Pretoria Callies, Mr [Moses] Malada.
“They gave me the platforms in their teams. The coaches I worked with have prepared me to be such kind of a coach, the likes of Boebie Solomons, Bernard Molekwa, Jozef Vukusic, Clinton Larsen, Kwanele Kopo, Innocent Mayoyo, Johnny Ferreira and MacDonald Makhubedu.
Moloto has already begun work at the club. He was an observer on Sunday when his team played to a draw.
“We played a draw on Saturday. There are five games left, and the team is number four. We are hopeful for a playoff spot. It was a good experience [to watch the team play] and made my job easy to know where to build from the performance of today,” he said.

“Hopefully, we will follow the foundation that our fellow South African coaches have built. The likes of coach Pitso [Mosimane], Morena [Ramoreboli], and Thabo Senong. Hopefully, it also opens doors for some of the South African players and coaches.”
Before his move to Ghana, Moloto had a stint at Pretoria Callies as assistant to Kwanele Kopo. He has previously held the co-coach post at Polokwane City alongside Innocent Mayoyo. He was promoted to the senior team after holding the DStv Diski Challenge role.
