How Erik ten Hag could handle Ronaldo saga
Manchester United attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes has revealed how Erik ten Hag could handle the Cristiano Ronaldo saga.
This comes after the Portuguese star said he has no “respect” for his mentor in an exclusive interview with Piers Morgan on Sunday, which left many people with mixed emotions on social media.
However, United has already issued out a statement to claims made by the 37-year-old forward, citing that “the club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.”
His fellow countryman Fernandes had stated that players should respect the Dutchman’s orders and rules or be ready to face the consequences [punished out of the team].
He said this in August during the Red Devils’ pre-season camp.
FERNANDES’ VIEWS…
“The main thing is following what he wants because I think he has a straight line that he wants to have with the team and I want to follow that straight line because I think we can be successful in that way,” Fernandes told Sky Sports News as quoted by Manchester Evening News.
“What brings me confidence is that the same way it was at Sporting it is now here, there is a straight line, this is what we have to do. Whoever doesn’t do this is out of the team.
“So I think that if everyone understands that we have to follow the rules, follow what the coach demands, what the team demands, then everyone will be on the same page.
“So that makes the team successful. And if the team is successful, I think everyone will be happy at the end of the season if we do everything that he [Ten Hag] wants us to do.
Fernandes went on to reveal that Ten Hag demands discipline and if one is not doing what he wants they know very well that they will be punished.
WHAT UNITED COACH DEMANDS
“It’s clear, he explained really well what he wants and he demands that. When we talk about the discipline it’s about that. So, there’s no way that you can escape from that. Even if you don’t understand English you can understand the way he wants to play,” he added.
“I think that is really important for us to be on the same page, and I think they will follow the line that he wants so no one can get out of nothing with him.
“And I think the senior players have to make an important step on that too, making sure that everyone is on the same page and not letting anyone get away with anything.”
Given what Fernandes has said about Ten Hag’s demands from his players, will Ronaldo be pushed and kicked out of United anytime soon?
