Ramasimong edging closer to Bantu return

The Vodacom Premier League (VPL) giants Bantu are finalising the deal to re-sign former Chippa United winger Maloisane Ramasimong, writes Tlalane Phahla.

The club has confirmed via their spokesperson Pule Mosoatsi that they are in talks with the player, but the deal has not been concluded yet and provided no further details.

“We are still in talks with him. That’s all I can say. Nothing is official yet,” he told FARPost.

Ramasimong, who has played for Bloemfontein Celtic at youth level, joined ‘A Matšo Matebele’ in 2016.

He was brought to the club by James Madidilane, who was at the helm of the club.

He left the club in 2018 to join Celtic again on a two-year deal before joining Chippa United 2020, where he reunited with Lehlohonolo Seema.

The talented winger has always enjoyed a good relationship with his countryman Seema. However, his stint under him at the Eastern Cape side was short after the coach was axed.

The 32-year-old was in action this past weekend in a friendly match between Bantu and Township Rollers from Botswana, which pretty much confirmed his return to Mafeteng.

Those familiar with the deal say it is just a matter of the club making the announcement official.

During his stay at the now defunct Siwelele, he made 18 appearances and scored three goals for the Free State outfit in both league and domestic cup matches.

With his experience, Bantu will be hoping to challenge for league honours in the new season.

Matlama recaptured league title glory last season. Prior to that, they had last won it in the 2009/10 season.

For over a decade, LCS, Lioli and Bantu had taken turns bossing the Lesotho league.

It was Matlama’s 10th league title, setting themselves up as record Lesotho champs. Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) have won eight titles while LCS are on six. Lioli have been crowned champions five times and Bantu three times.
