SABC and Caf contract details revealed
South African Broadcasting CorporationĀ (SABC) have signed a two-year deal with the Confederation of African Football (Caf) to broadcast a total of 446 matches on the public broadcaster’s platform.
SABC Group Executive Corporate Affairs and Marketing Gugu Ntuli said that SABC Sport will broadcast the Caf Champions League, Caf Confederations Cup, Caf Super Cup.
As well as the Caf Womenās African Cup of Nations, Caf Womenās Champions League, Caf African Nations Championship, Caf Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, Caf Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, and Caf Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
āWe are over the moon as we have been able to sign a contract with Caf that basically includes at least five African football tournaments which we have not had in the past,” said Ntuli on the Ultimate Sports Show.
“Thatās over 400 matches, mostly live, that are going to be brought to our football fans and our audience across the country. We are really delighted about this.
āIt is everything, and the biggest and the best kicks start this Friday; we will be seeing some of the biggest teams on the continent on our screens.
“We are excited that we were able to cut the costs of the rights and get more value; we got a very good deal with Caf,ā she added.
In a statement, the SABC said: āAll the action will be available on SABC Sport Channel 4 on DTT, Openview 124, and TelkomONE, with live commentary and live updates provided by Phalaphala FM, Motweding FM, Umhlobo Wenene FM, Ukhozi FM, TruFM, MetroFM, and Radio 2000.”
