Jackson Mabokgwane training with Baroka
Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane is back at his home province of Limpopo, training with Baroka.
FARPost has gathered that Mabokgwane has been training with Bakgaga for the past two weeks with the hope of securing a contract.
The 34-year-old has been a free agent since terminating his contract with Royal AM during the January transfer window.
Although nothing has been agreed upon between the player and Baroka, head coach Kgoloko Thobejane told this publication that they appreciate the presence of the 34-year-old and did not rule out the possibility of the player joining them in the near future.
“No, he is just here training with us. It’s not a thing of maybe we can try to sign him now. Maybe if things happen, we will see,” Thobejane told the media at the clubs’ village on Thursday.
“It’s good (to have him around), it’s good. As you can see now, he was talking to Oscarine (Masuluke) to show some of the things that we used to support and coach them every day.
“Most of the players are afraid; they are afraid. The keeper is the first attacker of the team. If he can’t play or is always afraid of kicking the balls forward, it’s a problem,” he said.
Baroka recently parted ways with one of their goalkeepers – Zambian international Cyril Chibwe. The club remains with Elvis Chipezeze, Oscarine Masuluke and Katlego Molefe as their only three shot-stoppers.
