Kekana can’t wait for Tuks Stadium return

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana has expressed his excitement to return to the Tuks Stadium as the champions host Stellenbosch FC on Saturday in the DStv Premiership encounter for their last home fixture of the season.

The 29-year-old had a great spell with the University of Pretoria in the 2014/15 season when they were still in the South African topflight before switching to another Tshwane outfit Supersport United. He captained the side, coincidentally under the man who is now in charge of Stellies – Steve Barker.

“I have good memories at the Tuks Stadium. All three of my goals for Tuks came at that stadium, and it’s been a stadium I enjoyed playing at a lot,” Kekana told the Downs website.

The ex-Supersport defender called on the Yellow Nation to come out in their numbers to support the team and celebrate together for reaching another milestone [five consecutive league titles] following a challenging season.

“With home games now, we’re able to have the majority of our supporters back, so it helps with the atmosphere in the stadium,” Kekana added.

“It will be very important to have their support. We would’ve liked to finish at home and celebrate the title with them, but we’ll be away for the last game. They keep us going; they motivate us so that we will be playing our hearts out for them.” Kick-off is 15:00.
