AmaZulu CEO explains game-changing move
AmaZulu have launched a new shop, becoming the first KwaZulu-Natal side to have a store for its supporters, and club CEO Sinenjabulo Zungu has explained the game-changing move.
The KZN side opened the doors of their fan experience shop at Moses Mabhida stadium on Tuesday as part of the Usuthu’s plans to celebrate the club’s 90th anniversary.
Usuthu supporters can buy the club’s exclusive merchandise and watch the club’s games inside the store with a café and bar for the fans’ enjoyment on match days and any other day.
The club’s CEO, Zungu, has expressed in words the whole concept of the store as AmaZulu look to attract more attention and tap into a new market.
“This is the first time in KZN to have a store for a football club, that got different things to experience inside, people can enjoy themselves, and we encouraged the fans to experience this exciting place while enjoying football,” said Zungu.
“The performance of the club contributes to the success of the business of the team, which is why we are making such moves because there is a demand for such. And good results will give us an opportunity to grow the business side of the club.”
Furthermore, AmaZulu moved their offices to Moses Mabhida Stadium after sharing a home with rugby outfit the C Sharks for more than a year. Zungu says the club had to make a business decision, insisting it would not make sense to return to a smaller venue King Zwelithini Stadium as it was going to be difficult for the club to establish a store.
“We’ve seen the growth of the fanbase, we want to attract more, and that was a decision to move to Moses Mabhida, and business-wise it made sense, hence have come up such experience, we don’t think we could’ve done that in other venues,” added Zungu.
