Arthur Zwane reacts to ‘difficult’ MTN8 semifinal draw
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has given his thoughts on the MTN8 semifinal draw that has paired them with AmaZulu.
The draw for this year’s semis took place on Monday evening.
It will see Amakhosi up against Usuthu, while Orlando Pirates will take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the other semifinal encounter.
Before the MTN8 showdown, the two teams are also scheduled to meet in a league match this coming Saturday.
Zwane believes the match will give a clear indication of what to expect in the cup game for both teams.
“We are playing against AmaZulu. We all know it’s not going to be an easy one,” said Zwane, whose team travelled back from Stellenbosch where they beat the hosts 4-3 on penalties on Sunday, to advance to the last four.
“They are doing very well at the moment and have been winning their league games and they are also through to the semifinals. They have assembled a very good squad with a good coach and technical staff.
“It is going to be a two-legged semifinal that will be very difficult. No easy games for that matter, these games will be knock-out so it will depend on how we are going to approach them home and away, also how they are going to respond,” he said.
“Firstly, we are playing against them in a league game this coming weekend so yah. We are looking forward to the game and we just hope that we will do well and go through.”
According to the Premier Soccer League fixture list released at the beginning of the season, the first leg matches will take place on the weekend of 1/2 October.
The second leg, to determine who advances to the final, will take place on the weekend of 22/23 October. The League is set to confirm the venues and the exact dates of the much anticipated matches.
