Ayanda Nkili wants Marumo Gallants to improve

Marumo Gallants defender Ayanda Nkili admits that collecting a single point out of a possible six from their last two matches is not good enough.

Gallants are winners from the last two league matches. They lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns and 0-0 against AmaZulu.

The 32-year-old has been one of the key players in the Marumo defence this season after missing most parts of 2021/22 due to an injury.

“I am just taking it one game at a time, one training session at a time. I am not thinking too much about the factors that led me to miss some of the games last season,” he told FARPost.

“I am focusing on what I can do or what I can contribute individually and also collectively for the team because the game is a team sport. For you to succeed you need the next person.”

ON MARUMO POOR RESULTS

“We have not won in the past two games so it’s obvious one point from a possible six is not good enough. I think it’s up to us to look at what went wrong in the last two games so that we can improve as a team. We need to maximize our efforts to get positive results.

NKILI ON FACING CAPE TOWN CITY

“It’s a tough league so Cape Town City is another opponent that we have to face. We have to do our best to get maximum points there.

“They are a dangerous team with very good players and a very good coach. They play good football, we also play good football so it’s going to be who wants it more on the day. So all the games are difficult, including the one we are going to face now.”

Gallants are one of the struggling teams in the opening matches of the season. They sit second from the bottom with 10 points from 11 matches. Equal on points with fellow Limpopo strugglers Sekhukhune United.
