Bafana Bafana make move up Fifa rankings
The senior national football team, Bafana Bafana, has climbed one step up the Fifa/Coca-Cola world rankings ladder.
Bafana Bafana are ranked 68th out of 211 teams in the world, number 12th in Africa out of 54 and the best in Southern Africa.
Africa champions Senegal have maintained the position as the continent’s best followed by Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria and Cameroon on second, third, fourth and fifth places.
Egypt, Algeria, Mali, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso complete the line-up for Africa’s 10 best national teams.
Overall, Brazil remain the world’s number one side followed by Belgium whose top-ranking remains to be matched by silverware.
Argentina are number three followed by France who have drifted out of the top three.
Occupying fifth place is England whose premier league is considered the best in the world whereas Spain are on sixth slot.
Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark complete the world’s top 10 band.
The rankings reflect results of 280 matches played for the duration in question for World Cup, Concacaf, National League, Asian and Africa Nations Cup qualifiers and friendlies.
The last rankings were released in March this year.
