Banyana star spotted at Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies

Banyana Banyana star Lebohang Ramalepe was spotted at Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ training ground on Thursday, 9 March 2023.

FARPost has it in good authority that the 2022 CAF Africa Women’s Cup of Nations [WAFCON] winner has been training with the Hollywoodbets Super League champions for a week now.

This comes after the 31-year-old footballer cut ties with Belarusian side FC Dinamo Minsk last year December.

Ramalepe left Minsk not on good terms as things got sour when she sustained an anterior aruciate ligament [ACL] injury towards the end of the 2022 campaign.

The defender was accused by her ex-club of faking an injury as they felt like she didn’t want to play anymore.

This publication can confirm that Ramalepe is currently in negotiations with Banyana Ba Style.

It won’t be a surprise seeing the Limpopo-born securing a deal with Tshwane club. Her extensive experience in the beautiful game is what gives her the edge of joining Sundowns.

LEBOHANG RAMALEPE WAS KEEN TO RETURN TO SOUTH AFRICA

In an interview with FARPost when she parted ways with the Belarusian outfit, she confirmed that she was open to playing in South Africa again.

“Yes, I will come home. I think I see lots of changes, especially this season [referring to 2022 campaign]. It was no longer easy for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies like it used to be. As compared to the last two seasons,” she said.

“The competition is really getting great. I think one of the good days I will come back and play again at home.”

As things stand, the red-hot Brazilians are flourishing on the summit of the Super League log standings with 12 points from four outings.

Sundowns’ next assignment will be against the newcomers Copperbelt on Sunday, 12 March 2023.

The game will take place at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15:00.
