Banyana’s Linda Motlhalo cruising nicely in Scotland
Banyana Banyana star Linda Motlhalo is cruising nicely in the Scottish Women’s Premier League [SWPL] as she continues with her scintillating display for Glasgow City.
The talented midfield maestro got a start when Glasgow humiliated Glasgow Women FC 11-0 in a league clash.
LINDA MOTLHALO ADDS TO HER GOAL TALLY IN SCOTLAND
Motlhalo scored the first goal for her Scottish side to make sure that they run riot over their arch-rivals.
In fact, this was her second goal in Glasgow colours.
The 24-year-old footballer joined the Scottish side in January on a deal that will see her stay at the club until 2025.
This was after Motlhalo cut ties with Swedish club Djurgården IF in November 2022, where she spent three seasons.
Her extensive experience in the beautiful continues to show that experience cannot be bought, having represented the likes of Houston Dash, Beijing Phoenix, to mention a few.
LINDA MOTLHALO CEMENTING HER PLACE FOR BANYANA WORLD CUP CALL-UP
With the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup just around the corner, Motlhalo will be hoping to continue cementing her place in the Banyana squad.
The South African-born midfielder boasts over 60 appearances and 16 goals under her belt, having made her debut for the national women’s team at the age of 17.
Having been part of coach Desiree Ellis’ squad that won the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations [WAFCON] and participated in France at FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019 for Banyana, one can say that’s the kind of experience Banyana would need at upcoming women’s World Cup.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand from July 20 until August 20.
Meanwhile, another South Africa-born Aliyaah Allie was a 78th-minute substitute in the game.
The teenage midfielder joined Glasgow from JVW FC Academy in September 2022.
Allie also represented South Africa’s U17 and U20 women’s national teams.
