Bongokuhle Hlongwane’s bold prediction about Maritzburg under Fadlu Davids

Bafana Bafana and Minnesota United frontman Bongokuhle Hlongwane has revealed how Maritzburg United‘s poor run in the DStv Premiership affects him even though he is no longer part of the club.

Hlongwane reckons that he’s becoming very concerned at the lack of the club’s failure to get positive results as their season started off on a rough patch.

The team is currently languishing at the basement of the South African football top-flight with 11 points after 13 games.

They have suffered six defeats, drew five and only managed to win two games. Their poor displays raised many questions as to whether or not their head coach [John Maduka] by then was the right person for the job, which led to his sacking.

The 22-year-old footballer said that Maritzburg’s bad start to the season affects him as some of his friends still play there.

HOW MARITZBURG UNITED’S POOR RUN AFFECTS BONGOKUHLE HLONGWANE

“It’s affecting me because some of my friends are still playing for the team. The way they are playing, they might lose their jobs,” Hlongwane told FARPost.

“So, every time they play, I always talk with them to say “guys, how did you guys play?” Sometimes if I’m not talking to them, I just go to Google and see the results and everything.

“But, to be honest, I’m not happy with the way the team is playing.”

BONGOKUHLE HLONGWANE ON FADLU DAVIDS’ RETURN

However, Hlongwane insists that the return of Fadlu Davids as the club’s head coach will yield fruitful results, as he described him as a “smart coach”.

“But hopefully, things will turn around since they got a new coach who is very smart,” he added.

“However, I’m not saying that the former coach was not smart or saying the new one is smart because he promoted me, but simply because I worked with him for quite some time.”
