Bradley Grobler’s first words after scoring his 100th PSL goal

SuperSport United frontman Bradley Grobler has spoken for the first time after scoring his 100th PSL goal.

The former Bafana Bafana international banged his 100th PSL goal during SuperSport’s 2-0 win over Maritzburg United in a DStv Premiership clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Grobler is currently Matsatsantsa’s top goalscorer with nine goals in 21 appearances across all competitions this campaign.

To add to that, the ex-Platinum Stars striker is also the SuperSport’s all-time leading goalscorer.

BRADLEY GROBLER ACHIEVE HIS CHILDHOOD DREAM

“It’s an emotional time in my career,” Grobler told the media.

“This is something I have dreamt about from a young age.

“I have always wanted to score goals and I never thought I would do it at the highest level in South African football, especially in a league that is not easy to score in.

“And to be put amongst those big names, whom I grew up watching is an honour and privilege.”

The 35-year-old goal poacher is the sixth player to reach the PSL 100 goal mark after the record holder Siyabonga Nomvethe [123 goals], Daniel Mudau [110 goals], Mabhuti Khenyeza [110 goals] Manuel Bucuane [104 goals] and Collins Mbesuma [103 goals].

Meanwhile, Grobler is determined to go on and break Nomvethe’s PSL goal tally, as he feels like he still got “a lot to offer.”

“I still want to keep playing as long as I can. I feel really good at the moment,” he added.

“The older you get does not mean you get older in years but you get older over months.

“For me, I have played 20 league games out of 21, missing the one through Covid.

“In my younger days, I could not get through 20 games in a season and I have done it already.

“So, that would be something I would definitely want to go for [breaking Nomvethe’s PSL goal record]. I think I still got a lot to offer.”

BRADLEY GROBLER GUNNING FOR GOLDEN BOOT

Grobler, who is in his 11th campaign with the Tshwane-based outfit further stated that he is gunning for the DStv Premiership Golden Boot.

“I think the Golden Boot is always a big thing for any striker,” explained Grobler.

“If there is a striker that tells you that he doesn’t want to win the Golden Boot is lying to you.”

Grobler continued: “Whether I score 10 goals or 20 goals, there will always be an expression of mind something I will push for, and this season there is no difference.

“There are guys who are doing well also, Peter [Shalulile] is always up there and Cassius [Mailula] is flying at the moment. So, I think the competition is good for South African football.”
