Brandon Truter hints at where Sekhukhune are lacking
Newly appointed Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has outlined the areas he wants to improve during the FIFA World Cup break.
Sekhukhune invested a lot during the transfer window bringing in many new faces. However, they were failing to grind the desired results.
The Sekhukhune defence has been shaky, conceding 13 goals, and they are struggling to convert their chances as the club has only scored 10 goals.
After 12 matches in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, Babina Noko are second from the bottom after only accumulating 11 points.
WHAT TRUTER WANTS TO IMPROVE AT NEW CLUB
According to the club’s new mentor, Truter, he wants to improve all the departments from the back to attack.
“There are so many areas that I would like to improve in, purely because it is my style of play, my philosophy, my way of thinking football,” Truter told the club’s media department.
“It’s about how I think I can get the best out of players and the players at my disposal as well,
“Areas it’s all over, from defence to attack into transition moments, keeping a bit more possession as well.
“The possession stats of the team are below average at the moment. If we possess the ball, the opponent can’t get it and can’t score or hurt us. So definitely, it’s all over.”
Truter further revealed he would like to bring stability to the team. The Polokwane outfit seems to be inconsistent and lacking in confidence.
“The team has not been doing too well. To bring some stability now, we should stop giving points away. I’ve seen Sekhukhune taking a lead, then dropping it, not even taking a point from the game,” added Truter.
“Sekhukhune has not been the worst when it comes to conceding goals. First and foremost, our first point of reference is to keep more clean-sheets. They have been scoring goals.
“That’s one point we’ll like to focus on, keep on scoring but don’t concede and give away leads,” Truter added.
Truter’s first assignment as Sekhukhune boss will be against his former club AmaZulu on December 31st at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
