CONFIRMED: CT City sign Gonzalez

Cape Town City have completed the signing of winger, Darwin Gonzalez.

The Venezuelan international joins the ‘Citizens’ as a free agent after parting ways with Deportivo La Guaira.

Gonzalez previously played for teams such as Arroceros, Patronato and Étoile du Sahel.

The 26-year-old footballer is seen as a replacement for Bradley ‘Surprise’ Ralani, who recently joined the DStv Premiership defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Cape Town City is delighted to announce the signing of Venezuelan forward Darwin Gonzalez,” read the club’s statement.

“Welcome to the PSL craque!”

Meanwhile, the club’s head coach Eric Tinkler added: “Darwin has pace and creativity, very similar to what Ralani gave us, but he also has the ability to score goals. He can play either out wide or as a striker, so he gives us a lot of options in attack.

“He’s a fantastic acquisition. He’s someone who has played in Africa before with Etoile in Tunisia so he has Caf experience, and we’re happy to have him at our club.”
