Daniel Akpeyi resurfaces at new club
Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi may soon find a new home after being spotted at a new club.
The Nigerian international was one of the nine players released by Amakhosi this week as the club took a new direction under the guidance of Arthur Zwane. Akpeyi was spotted at Sekhukhune United on Thursday and is expected to join Babina Noko as a free agent.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper made 12 appearances for Chiefs in the DStv Premiership during the just-ended term and was an unused substitute in all the 2022 AFCON games for Nigeria in Cameroon as the Super Eagles fell short in the Round of 16.
At Sekhukhune, Akpeyi will face competition from goalkeeper of the season nominee Toaster Nsabata, who had a stellar maiden season in South Africa, Ayanda Dlamini and Tapuwa Kapini.
