Devine Lunga gives honest assessment of loan spell at Golden Arrows

Mamelodi Sundowns on-loan left-back Devine Lunga has given an honest assessment of his loan spell at Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The left-footer rejoined Abafana Bes’thende when the current campaign started on a season long-loan deal. This was after he couldn’t break into the Tshwane giants’ regular line-up.

The Zimbabwean international had signed for the DStv Premiership giants, Sundowns, in 2021 after a prosperous stint with Arrows.

Now, Lunga believes he’s yet to reach the level he was at prior to securing a move to Chloorkop.

“Not yet [I’m not back to my old self] but I think I’m getting there as a player,” he told the journalists.

“It’s not easy but I have to fight by all means to bring my form back.”

Lunga says providing assists is one of the missing pieces in his puzzle.

“I wanna bring in more assists but I know I’m gonna get there sooner,” he continued.

“It’s not easy because when you’re losing the form can go down. When you [feel] that you’re back and then you get a loss as a team, the confidence can go down but I think I’m getting there.”

The 27-year-old has only missed one league match among 17 that Arrows have played this season.

While he has found the back of the net on one occasion, he’s part of the defence that has conceded 22 goals.

LUNGA ON ARROWS’ POOR DEFENCE

“We’re trying to bring solutions because it’s not going to be easy,” he added.

“We’re still gelling up as defenders. I know [conceding goals] goes back to the defenders because we’re the ones who are supposed to defend.

“But I think we’re going to solve the problem and we’re going to manage because we play as a team, it’s not the defenders only.

“But I think we’re going find the solution as a team.”
