Dondol Stars reveals valuable lessons learned playing ‘top level’ PSL side

Dondol Stars co-coach Vincent Rammoni has detailed the valuable lessons learned from playing against a ‘top level’ PSL side SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup last 32 clash.

The Gauteng ABC Motsepe League outfit pulled off a shocker when they came from a goal down to defeat the Tshwane side with a 2-1 scoreline at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night.

The victory saw the South African football third-tier side secure a Nedbank Cup last 16 spot.

Rammoni knew playing against a top-flight team will force him to master their plan and buckle down hard to outsmart Gavin Hunt’s men.

WHAT DONDOL STARS LEARNT FROM PLAYING PSL SIDE

“Firstly, is professionalism. When we got here, you could see that we are still growing in this game,” Rammoni told the media.

“But the difference between our side and SuperSport was in terms of preparations and the organisation.

“You could see that these guys are from the top level unlike us. There were certain things that they had which we did not have.”

VINCENT RAMMONI REVEALS MORE LESSONS

The amateur side coach further revealed that he also learnt that the game of football is about your chances to avoid disappointments at the end of the day.

“The other thing that we learnt is that the game of football is about who takes their moments [scoring opportunities],” he added.

“And if you respect your opponents and are willing to work hard, and take the chances that you get you will always be rewarded. are willing to work hard, and take the chances you get,

“They [SuperSport United] were very ruthless, look at the first goal they scored. After that goal, I was like these are superhuman.

“However, our defensive organisation was very top but one of their player [Siyabonga Nhlapo] out-jumped everyone and scored.”

Dondol hopes to continue with their fine form in the Nedbank Cup competition and the league as they are in their quest to gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
