Prior to this move, the 30-year-old was in the books of Sekhukhune United, where he didn’t last the distance.

He, however, broke into the South African topflight as an exciting prospect when he signed for Baroka in July 2019.

The former Harare City forward swapped to AmaZulu in January 2019 but was released following the arrival of Benni McCarthy as head coach.

He joined Sekhukhune halfway through the 2020/21 season but did not last the distance as he was offloaded along with his compatriots Blessing Sarupinda, Charlton Mashumba and Walter Musona.

In South Africa, Chawapiwa played in over 100 games, scoring three goals and providing nine assists.

Meanwhile, another former DStv Premiership player Blessing Moyo has been linked with the same club after it emerged that he severed ties with FC Platinum.

Moyo was one of the standout performers for the four-time Zimbabwean champions, along with former Polokwane City forward Walter Musona.

His departure from the Norman Mapeza-coached side comes as one of the shock moves in the January transfer window, especially that he was the team’s midfield mainstay.
