Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi is set to lead North West ABC Motsepe League outfit Black Eagles in the upcoming season.
According to recent reports, this comes after Eagles parted ways with their head coach Kabelo Sibiya.
The 39-year-old mentor served as assistant coach to Sibiya when South African businessman and CEO of Drip, Mr Lekau Sehoana, purchased the status of Buya Msuthu last campaign.
Sibiya is heavily linked with a move to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy (VFA).
Besides Kaizer Chiefs, Tsotetsi, who was born in Boipatong, has also played for Wits University, FC Sporting, Jomo Cosmos, Bloemfontein Celtic, Vasco da Gama, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Roses United and EC Bees FC.
He earned one cap for Bafana Bafana, which came in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Sierra Leone on 14 June 2008.
Eagles are a very ambitious team with players who are capable enough to challenge for trophies as it has been proven by their good run in qualifying for the 2022 Nedbank Cup edition.
The team was eliminated by the KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League club Summerfield Dynamos in the competition’s Last 16 with a 1-0 scoreline after extra time.
Tsotetsi previously coached Maccabi FC and given his extensive experience of the beautiful game, he will be expected to help the side to achieve its ultimate goal of qualifying for the ABC League national playoffs and possibly getting promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season.
