Dutchman Erol Akbay has revealed the main problem besetting Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila’s (TTM) hope for better strides.
According to Akbay, intereference from the club’s owner Masala Mulaudzi has been the main hinderance.
The 55-year-old gaffer briefly coached Vhadau Vha Damani during the 2019/20 season but he left the Limpopo club in a huff.
He resigned after four games, citing unprofessionalism as the main push factor for him to quit the club.
TTM’s PROBLEMS OUTLINED
“I could see that players were getting me but the problem was that the owner wanted to play the coach’s role which means the working environment was not good for me,” Akbay told FARPost from his base in Netherlands.
“I think that is the problem they are still facing upto now.
“It was very different from the times I coached in Zimbabwe. Everyone was on board with me, helpful and resourceful. I enjoyed my stay there especially at Highlanders.
“The players, the club leadership and fans were all supportive but at TTM it was different and uncharacteristic for a coach to express their style.”
Before TTM, Akbay coached two top Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clubs, Highlanders and Ngezi Platinum between 2015 and 2019 respectively.
Following his botched stint in Limpopo, Akbay returned to home country, Netherlands.
His comments come a day after current TTM coach Lucky Nelukau blasted the team for being involved in club politics.
Nelukau told his players to distance themselves from club politics and rather focus on football exclusively.
This followed a series of news that the Motsepe Foundation Championship side could be sold due to financial instability, with non-payment of players among other pending issues.
Earlier this month club owner Lawrence Mulaudzi sensationally revealed that he was done with football.
These sentiments all but left the players clouded with uncertainity.
For fortnight ago, Johnny Ferreira quit his job as head coach citing financial instability. He has since joined their Limpopo rivals Black Leopards.
