Gabriela Salgado ruled out for 6-8 weeks

JVW FC will be without forward Gabriela Salgado for two months after it was confirmed that the Banyana Banyana star fractured her collarbone.

The Blue Diamonds reported that Salgado fell awkwardly during their Hollywoodbets Super League midweek fixture against Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies, where the side went on to lose the game with a 1-0 scoreline. This was JVW’s second defeat of the campaign.

The 24-year-old frontwoman has been instrumental for her side, having found the back of the net on seven occasions from 10 appearances this season.

She is also named in the Banyana preliminary squad for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), due to take place in Morocco next month.

With God’s grace, Salgado will be hoping to recuperate before the AWCON tournament commences.

Also under medical attention in the club are Erin Herz (defender), Jade Leask (midfielder), Isabella Ludwig (midfielder), Nomathemba Ntsibande (defender), Alochia Lelaka (midfielder) and striker Nokwazi Mnomiya who sustained a fractured ankle in the match-up against Thunderbirds Ladies a week ago.
