How Super League teams can stop Sundowns Ladies’ dominance

Banyana Banyana frontwoman Ode Fulutudilu has shed light on how Hollywoodbets Super League teams can stop Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ dominance in South Africa.

Downs Ladies were on Saturday officially crowned the 2022 Super League champions following their comfortable 4-2 win over Richmond United at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

This was Sundowns Ladies’ third consecutive Super League title, having first won it back in 2019.

Banyana Ba Style’s domination in the 2022 campaign comes second to none, setting the bar high as they have hit the 100-goal mark for the first time in the league’s history.

Masandawana finished top of the Super League with 82 points from 30 outings. A whopping 20 points ahead of second-placed University of the Western Cape (UWC Ladies).

FULUTUDILU’S VIEWS

FC Fleury 91 striker Fulutudilu has explained why it is difficult for Super League teams to keep up with their standards.

“It’s just about players’ assessment or a fair reflection of what Sundowns has done for their women’s football team, which is the fruit of what the club is showing,” Fulutudilu told FARPost.

“I think for anybody [team] to challenge them they will need to have the same kind of financial backing, the same kind of system and similar kind of infrastructure that Sundowns have right now.”

She went on to say that until other teams get the same treatment as Sundowns gets from its hierarchy, that can only be the way to stop them.

“Right now, there is no other women’s football team that has the kind of backing that Sundowns has from their owners and men’s team,” she added.

“Until a team can back up their women’s team to that level it will be very hard for any other team to compete against them.”
