‘I can still offer more’: Tshepo Gumede reflects on his performances

Marumo Gallants defender Tshepo Gumede says he still has a lot to offer the game of football and wants to help his side succeed in the 2022/23 campaign set to resume on 30 December.

The 31-year-old Dobsonville-born believes that his experience can help Gallants to finish in a better position in South Africa’s topflight and do well in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Gallants currently sit 11th on the DStv Premiership table with 13 points and the Limpopo-based side has managed to qualify for the Confed Cup group stages for the first time in the club’s history.

Gumede reckons that his sole focus is assisting Marumo to reach the promised land at the moment, and he is certain that he can play a key part in bringing success to the club at the end of the season.

The centre-back has played a total number of 10 games across all competitions so far for the Gallants this term.

TSHEPO GUMEDE ON HIS OVERALL PERFORMANCE…

“I think have done really well, but I know I can still offer more to the club,” Gumede told FARPost.

“And I know that as a team we also want to do more to be in a better position as high as we can.

“So, we are hoping we can push ourselves to be in a suitable position that we are willing to be.”

GALLANTS’S READINESS FOR CONFED CUP

Gumede believes his team is ready for the Confederation Cup group stage as they are getting better and better since the return of Dan Malesela despite their slow start to the season.

He went on to say that they have learnt a lot from their failure to reach the group stages last season which has motivated them to do well this time around.

Gallants are drawn in Group A alongside USMA from Algeria, Al Akhder of Libya and FC ST. Eloi Lupopo from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“I think we are in a group that has good opponents and we also are good opponents. It will depend on the day who applies themselves better and we are willing to go as far as we can in the tournament,” he added.

“I know from the previous season where we were one round away to make it to the group stage. So, we learnt a lot from last season’s experience, hopefully, we do well.”
