Johnny Ferreira remains tight-lipped on Black Leopards exit

Former Black Leopards coach Johnny Ferreira has opted not to divulge much regarding his surprise departure from the club. FARPost has gathered that this could be due to the legal matters that have arisen since his move. 

Ferreira resigned from Lidoda Duvha to return to their rivals Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila earlier this week. The move shocked the local football fraternity as a well-travelled PSL mentor had only left TTM just two months ago to join Leopards. 

But it seems it didn’t work out at the Malamulele-based club hence the merry-go-round.

LEGAL BATTLE LOOMING? 

FARPost has learnt that Leopards could go a legal route to deal with Ferreira’s sudden resignation.  

The 65-year-old took charge of TTM 2-1 lost against Venda Football Academy at Thohoyandou Stadium. 

“Let me say this with respect to Black Leopards. I am not going to say anything about Black Leopards, the same way I didn’t say anything to Chairman Mulaudzi when I left him a few months ago,” he told reporters after the match. 

“I don’t do that in public. We don’t do that even though I have my personal opinions. I just don’t do that.”

Ferreira, however, remains confident of turning the fortunes around at TTM, who have now lost their last six matches. 

“We need to win the games, we need to continue to play the way we did and build their confidence so that they can believe they are the best players in the world. Even if they are not.

“That has been my philosophy, make the players believe they are so good that they don’t realize even when they make mistakes. So 40 points off the pace, it can be tough, but we still have 14 games left. That’s 43 points to play for, and that’s a lot,” added Ferreira.

“You get 30 out of those 43; you are still in the top three. So we are very confident.”
