Kaitano Tembo on Sekhukhune’s transfer business
Sekhukhune United made significant reinforcements during the off-season, bringing in the likes of Linda Mntambo, Daniel Cardoso, Victor Letsoalo, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, but coach Kaitano Tembo has hinted there may be more transfer business.
The last campaign was a huge one for Babina Noko, given that it was their first season in the South African football top-flight, missing out on a top eight finish due to a lack of squad depth and quality, but this window period, they needed to be perfect.
So far, the Limpopo-based outfit are currently placed ninth on the DStv Premiership log standings with four points from three outings.
One area of the squad that the ex-SuperSport mentor feels has not received bolstering is in midfield.
Sekhukhune has been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sammy Seabi, who has joined the side on a season-long loan and is expected to be unveiled by the club in due course.
The 52-year-old coach spoke to the media in his press conference ahead of Saturday’s DStv Premiership clash against Sundowns at Peter Mokaba Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15:00.
Tembo said that the team’s transfer business is not done just yet. “Look, we still short a little bit in some certain areas which I feel we lack in terms of quality and depth, especially in the midfield,” he said.
“We need to have a little bit more creativity, especially on the ball. I think my analysis is our previous game. At some point, we lost possession cheaply, so we need to try and improve on those areas by bringing in quality players.
“However, I have seen a little bit of improvement. Maybe we might need one player who might come in and give us that quality we are looking for.”
