Mabokgwane makes decision on Baroka future

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane has made a decision on his Baroka future.

Mabokgwane joined the Limpopo side with four games to go last season after parting ways with Royal AM during the January transfer. However, he could not help the club survive the chop.

FARPost can reveal that the 34-year-old is destined to stay at the club despite their drop to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The former Buccaneers shot-spotter was on a short-term deal until the end of the season. Although he is yet to put pen to paper, he has made a commitment to stay with the club.

“He hasn’t signed a contract, but he has an agreement with the club that he will stay. He wants to stay unless, of course, an offer he can’t resist comes his way,” a source close to the player said.

Mabokgwane, who made four appearances for Bakgaga as they were fighting relegation, has been training with the club since they resumed pre-season training a fortnight ago.

In the games he featured, the team registered two victories, drew one and suffered one defeat on the last day that relegated them. He kept one cleansheet, conceding four goals.

The two parties are set to finalise a contract soon with the second tier season set to start in August.
